The following are some guidelines for Employers to take action now to help combat the spread of Covid-19. This list will be updated regularly.
- Do not make it mandatory for ill employees to come out to work. Rather, encourage them to stay at home.
- Actively encourage sick employees to stay home.
- Emphasize respiratory etiquette and hand washing and sanitizing by all employees.
- Perform routine environmental cleaning.
- Advise employees against traveling as advised by the government and local health department. Specific travel information for travelers going to and returning from designated countries with risk of community spread of Coronavirus, can be found on the Ministry of Health’s website and the Embassy’s website.
Additional Measures in Response to Currently Occurring Sporadic Importations of the COVID-19:
- Employees who are well but who have been around a sick family member tested positive with COVID-19, should notify their employer and refer to the Ministry of Health’s guidelines for information regarding their potential exposure.
- If an employee is confirmed to have COVID-19, employers should inform fellow employees of their possible exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace, but maintain confidentiality as required by the Ministry of Health and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. Employees exposed to a co-worker with confirmed COVID-19 should refer to the Ministry of Health and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago on quarantine guidelines.
