Entrepreneurs the world over, are different, and they all adapt to different routines. It is important as an Entrepreneur, that you find a routine that suits you and your goals-one that you can strictly adhere to. It's like studying- some students can study in the dead of night when all is quiet and some need elements such as music or activity buzzing around to focus better. Whatever your particular routine, make sure you cover the basics below in one way or another.
Gratitude first
One of the most important things you can do as an Entrepreneur is give thanks! Your morning routine should include recognizing at least three things you are grateful for. By doing this, you are setting yourself up for success. You begin the day with less anxiety and you are the one in control. Most successful Entrepreneurs usually have quiet meditation practices or early morning devotions. This sets the pace for their day. If the first thing you do in the morning is pick up your phone, you might want to re-think that. It is YOUR business. YOU first!
Own Your Day
You can make so much progress if you strictly prioritize your day, especially from the morning. Refuse to check emails or take calls before you've had your gratitude moment. You lose control of your day when you start with other people's needs and neglect your own. YOU first, then you can strategically respond to the world.
Your Physical Health Matters
Many Entrepreneurs realize a little too late that their physical health affected the health of their business. Yes, they knew they had to be in top shape, but neglect of self is easy when the dollar sign dictates and dominates your life. You have to keep yourself in good physical shape because staying important in your market, competing at the highest level, and trying to dominate the competition, all the while building your brand is an exhausting business fight that will drain you physically.
Yes, you already know this. But are you getting enough sleep? Have you been neglecting the moments when you feel extremely tired but you push yourself anyway? Have you been fueling your body with what it needs for peak performance: lots of water, a healthy diet, or even exercise? A nice walk can do wonders for a business mind. Schedule your physical fitness as you would schedule a meeting. And don't be flexible with your health.
Boring does not necessarily hurt
So your Entrepreneur mornings are the same. The same old routines every day, no changing variables. Now this might not be such a terrible thing. Think of it this way-not having more decisions to make and not adding unnecessary variables to your routine, frees up your mind to come up with new ideas, world-changing products, services and solutions. How can some people keep coming up with innovative ideas and new ways of doing ordinary things? It’s because their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual beings are taken care of, and so they're better able to focus on what to do to increase business and productivity. Their least concern is what to have for breakfast, lunch or dinner! They're well prepared. They know what they're having for breakfast, which task to attack first since it's all written down or marked off on their calendars.
These Entrepreneurs wake up knowing exactly what they have to do, so very little time is spent with variables in their day. Why complicate things? Psychologically, you're better prepared.
Choose To Be Productive
You know how there's good news and bad news, and if you ask people which they want to hear first, they'll tell you the bad news, so they're better able mentally to handle the good news after the disappointment? (Pardon the run-on sentence). Well with our business, we prefer to start with the most pressing issues. We will handle the urgent, bugging orders first to “get them out of the way” and before we know it, the day has quickly passed on and we're sometimes still stressed out from the present assignment as we didn't get to the easier tasks as planned. Here we realize, that if we started with the less pressing tasks, we would have accomplished a bit more-completion of those easy tasks and perhaps some headway into the bugging tasks. So be careful how you allocate your time. Make sure you assign your daily tasks according to productivity. How will you be more productive? Would you get more done if you focus on the easier tasks first? Consider actually allocating time in your planner for doing what needs to be done. Block out three or four hours if you need to. Mark your schedule as busy during this period to avoid interruptions. No meetings, nothing, because your success depends on getting even the most difficult task completed...on time.
